Ask questions
early and often. Questions are free and all are very
important, even if you think they may not be.
What is the primary reason for the renovation? Is it a need
based project, form project, or a fashion project decision?
What is your timeframe? Every contractor will ask you this
question. Try to be as realistic as possible, and remember
holidays.
Do your homework concerning your budget. This is the stage
that most homeowners struggle with. They are often taken by
surprise when a contractor submits their estimate.
Do you need plans/blueprints? We can help you with this and
save money at the same time. If you have a homeowners
association, call and ask what they will require before the
project starts.
Do you have a vision of what you want? Create a binder from
magazine clippings or a vision board of what you like.
Start thinking about how you will be affected by the work
being done on your home. If it is a kitchen or bath,
understand that you will be without them when the renovation
is under way.
